Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Adele.
I built this for you.

After years of watching ordinary South Africans overpay SARS, struggle with confusing forms, and feel powerless against a system they didn't understand — I decided to do something about it.

My story

Why I built TaxGnosis

As a registered tax practitioner, I spent years helping South Africans navigate SARS. And in that time, I kept seeing the same three things happen — over and over.

People overpaying SARS. Not because they were dishonest — but because they didn't know what they were allowed to claim. A home office deduction missed here. A retirement annuity contribution not captured there. Thousands of rands left on the table every year.

People afraid of SARS. Convinced that SARS could do whatever it wanted. That there was no recourse. That if SARS said you owed money, you simply paid. When in reality, taxpayers have clear, legally protected rights — and a proper process to dispute any assessment they disagree with.

People confused by the forms. Staring at ITR12 source codes and VAT201 fields with no idea what any of it meant. Not because they weren't intelligent — but because nobody had ever explained it to them in plain language.

None of that is the taxpayer's fault. Tax in South Africa is genuinely complicated. But the information to understand it exists.

It's in the SARS publications. It's in the Tax Acts. It's in the practice notes that practitioners read every day. I just put it all together, translated it into plain language, and built it into an app that fits in your pocket.

TaxGnosis is the guide I wish every one of my clients had from day one. Now you do.

01
People were overpaying SARS
Missed deductions, unclaimed credits, and misunderstood thresholds were costing ordinary South Africans thousands every tax season — simply because they didn't know what they were entitled to.
02
People were afraid of SARS
Too many taxpayers believed SARS had unlimited power. In reality, you have rights — the right to object, to appeal, to request reasons, to engage on your own terms. TaxGnosis shows you how.
03
The forms were impossible to understand
ITR12, IRP6, VAT201 — official SARS forms in the same layout as eFiling, explained field by field in language that actually makes sense. No jargon. No guessing.

What TaxGnosis stands for

Three principles behind every piece of content in the app.

Plain language, always
If a normal person wouldn't say it at a braai, it doesn't go in the app. Every concept is explained the way a knowledgeable friend would explain it — not a textbook, not a lecturer.
Official sources, only
Every piece of content comes from official SARS publications, the Tax Acts, and current interpretation notes. Not Google. Not forums. The actual source — explained clearly.
Your side, always
TaxGnosis was built to put the taxpayer on equal footing. You deserve to understand your own tax — not just hand it over and hope someone else gets it right.
